From A Clients Point Of View
After many hours of answering enquiries on the phone, we at 4TherapyUk do understand how hard it can be to just pick up the phone and call us. You may be asking yourself questions like:-
Do I really need therapy?
How much good will therapy do anyway?
Do I want to tell a total stranger all my private thoughts?
Therapy is for people you have mental health issue’s!
How many sessions will I need?
What will people think of me having therapy?
Isn’t therapy just for celebrities!
The reason why you are even thinking about therapy in the first place is simply because you need someone to talk to. The issue’s you may be experiencing feel a little to much to handle on your own, and you need some support. Not from a family member or friends, but someone who is not going to judge you or come from a certain perceptive. By talking about your issue’s to a therapist, you are coming face to face with what is not working for you right now, and then looking at a way to move forward. We understand that everyone is different, and no two therapy sessions are the same. It is the job of the therapist to put you at ease, and to have empathy for what you are going through. Talking therapies have been in use in England for many years now and is an excepted part of many recoveries. The stigma around counselling and therapy is slowly reducing as people understand what exactly takes place.
We ask all potential clients on the phone to come to our offices for an assessment, which is basically a chance for the therapist and client to meet up, have a chat about the clients issue’s, and for the therapist to suggest what kind of therapy might be useful for the client. We do understand how coming to the first assessment can be nerve racking, and we do are uppermost to make you feel relax and comfortable. Therapy is not a test with right or wrong answers, it’s all about exploring what’s going on for you in a safe and relaxed environment. At the end of the assessment it is up to you to decide if therapy is for you. Sometimes clients may want to go away and think about it, then others want to start straight away.
All the therapist will try and accommodate sessions to suit the clients as much as possible.
Both our offices do have stairs leading to them, so any client who is unable to navigate stairs, home visits can be arranged.
