Choose Happiness

Happiness. Is It Really A Choice? 😊

When someone first said that to me I wanted to roll my eyes.

Choose to be happy. Right. Thanks for that.

Because when you're in the thick of it — anxious, low, exhausted, stuck — being told happiness is a choice feels dismissive. Almost insulting.

So let me be clear. That's not what I mean.

I'm not talking about toxic positivity. About plastering a smile over real pain. About pretending everything is fine when it isn't.

I'm talking about something much quieter and much more powerful than that.

I'm talking about the small daily decisions that — over time — shift everything.

The decision to notice what's good, even when what's hard is louder. The decision to challenge the thought rather than believe it automatically. The decision to reach out instead of isolate. The decision to stop waiting for life to be perfect before you allow yourself to feel okay.

Bob Proctor said happiness is a choice that requires effort some days. And I think that's the most honest version of it I've ever heard.

Some days it flows easily. Other days choosing it feels like the hardest work you'll ever do.

But it is work worth doing.

Dr Joe Dispenza talks about how we can literally change our brain chemistry through conscious thought and elevated emotion. Happiness isn't just a feeling that arrives — it's a state we can learn to create.

Not perfectly. Not every moment. But more consistently than most people believe is possible.

In therapy we work on exactly this. Not chasing happiness like it's something outside of you. Finding it — or at least the seeds of it — in the life you already have.

It's there. Sometimes it just needs a little help to grow. 💛
