Only half the picture

What If You're Only Seeing Half The Picture? 😊

We all think we see things clearly.

We don't. Not always.

When we're hurting, stressed or overwhelmed, our brain narrows. It focuses on one version of events — usually the worst one — and holds onto it like it's the only truth.

But there is always another side.

I remember a client who was convinced her colleague hated her. Every interaction, every email, every silence — proof. Except when we looked at it differently, something else entirely was going on.

That shift — that moment when someone sees the same situation through a different lens — is one of my favourite things to witness in the therapy room.

It's not about dismissing how you feel. Your feelings are always valid.

It's about asking — is there another explanation? Another angle? A version of this where you have more options than you think?

Bob Proctor said if you see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hand. But first you have to be willing to look differently.

That's what therapy offers. Not answers. A wider view.

And sometimes that changes absolutely everything. 💛
