People Pleasing
What Will People Think? 😊
How much of your life have you lived for other people's approval?
Think about it honestly.
The job you stayed in. The relationship you didn't leave. The opinion you didn't share. The dream you quietly put away because you worried what people might say.
We do it without even realising. People pleasing is exhausting — and most of the time, the people we're trying to impress aren't even paying attention.
Marisa Peer says we have two fears at our core — that we are not enough, and that we won't be loved if people see the real us.
So we perform. We shrink. We edit ourselves.
But here's the truth — the people who matter don't mind, and the people who mind don't matter.
You were not put here to live someone else's version of your life.
In therapy we unpick exactly this. Where did the need for approval come from? Whose voice is it really? And what would your life look like if you stopped asking for permission?
That's where the good stuff starts. 💛
