Seft Doubt
That Voice That Says You Can't. It's Lying. 😊
You had an idea. A good one.
And then that voice showed up.
Who do you think you are? What if you fail? What will people think? You're not good enough for this.
And just like that — the idea stayed exactly where it was. Safe. Unexplored. Another thing you almost did.
Self doubt is one of the quietest but most destructive forces I see in my therapy room. It doesn't shout. It whispers. Constantly. Consistently. Until you mistake it for the truth.
But here's what I want you to know.
That voice isn't you. It's a collection of everything you were told — directly or indirectly — about your worth, your ability, your place in the world. It started somewhere. A critical parent. A harsh teacher. A relationship that made you feel small. Years of comparing yourself to people you thought had it figured out.
You absorbed it. And now it feels like your own thinking.
It isn't.
Marisa Peer says the mind believes what you tell it most. Which means if self doubt has had the loudest voice for the longest time — of course it feels true.
But you can change what you tell your mind.
In therapy we find where the doubt started. We challenge it. We build something quieter but far more powerful in its place.
Confidence isn't the absence of doubt. It's deciding to move forward anyway.
You are more capable than that voice will ever admit. 💛
