The comparison Trap!

The Comparison Trap. And How To Get Out Of It. 😊

Scroll. Compare. Feel rubbish. Repeat.

Sound familiar?

We have never lived in a time where it is easier to measure ourselves against everyone else. Their relationship. Their body. Their career. Their apparently perfect life served up in a highlight reel every single day.

And we wonder why so many people feel like they're falling short.

Here's what I know — you are comparing your inside to everyone else's outside. Their real life, with all its mess and struggle and doubt, looks nothing like their Instagram.

Nobody posts the hard days.

Theodore Roosevelt called comparison the thief of joy. He said that over a hundred years ago. Imagine what he'd make of social media.

In therapy I see this constantly. Clever, warm, wonderful people who have somehow decided they are less than — because someone else appears to have more.

You are not behind. You are not less than. You are on your own path, at your own pace, with your own gifts.

The only person worth comparing yourself to is who you were yesterday.

Are you a little kinder? A little braver? A little more honest with yourself?

That's the only measure that matters. 💛
